10% of students fail all 3 subjects at A/Ls!
The number of applicants who sat for the Advanced Level examination and failed all the three subjects is 27,352 which is 10.03% of total applicants.
From among the total 341,464 applicants, 20% or 68,782 did not sit for the exam.
The statistics of the Examination Department show that 25% of the students who appeared for Sinhala as a subject and 35% of the students who appeared for the Tamil language failed these subjects.
A total of 61,687 students appeared for the Sinhala subject, out of which 15,056 failed. Out of 17,845 students who appeared for Tamil language, 6,308 have failed the subject.
In the previous year, the number of students who failed in Sinhala was 4,897 while only 1,857 failed Tamil.
