The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has approved 3-hr power cuts in the next four days (Aug. 16-19).

Groups A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, and W will experience a power cut for 1 hour and 40 minutes during daytime and a power cut for 1 hour and 20 minutes in the night.

Group CC will experience a power cut for 2 hours and 30 minutes from 6.00 am to 8.30 am.

Groups M, N, O, X, Y, and Z will experience a power cut for 3 hours from 5.30 am to 8.30 am.

Longer powercuts were anticipated after the breakdown at the Norochcholai power plant as authorities said that it would take around 14 - 16 days for repairs.

However, today's power cut is to remain at 1.5 hours.
