70% of state constructions suspended
The National Construction Association of Sri Lanka (NCASL) said that about 70% of state constructions have been suspended so far.
Association's President Susantha Liyanaarachchi said the construction sector is in severe crisis due to non-payment of funds due by the government.
He said that carrying out construction works in the private sector has also become a dream and that it is impossible to imagine implementing any construction works in the future.
Due to the current inflation, he said the amount estimated at the beginning of a construction increases excessively by the time the construction is completed.
