
A meeting had taken place at the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) headquarters in Pelawatte, Battaramulla yesterday (Oct. 13) between the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka – Santosh Jha and JVP General Secretary – Tilvin Silva.
The HC’s first Secretary (Pol.) – Ms. Navya Singla had also been present, according to reports.
Discussions reportedly covered the current situation in Sri Lanka, including the success of the Indian housing project for displaced hill country communities.

Tilvin Silva expressed gratitude to India for its contribution, and the High Commissioner had pledged further assistance.
According to reports, potential Indian investment and aid, along with sharing experiences on India’s progress in agriculture, information technology, and fisheries, were also taken up at the meeting.
Meanwhile, French Ambassador to Sri Lanka – Rémi Lambert had also met JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva yesterday at the party headquarters, for discussions on strengthening bilateral relations and supporting Sri Lanka’s reform program under the National People’s Power (NPP) government.
PM Harini to visit India after China
Meanwhile, Prime Minister – Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, currently on an official visit to China, is scheduled to travel to India to attend the NDTV World Summit 2025.
The summit, to be held on Oct. 17-18, will be held under the theme ‘Edge of the Unknown: Risk. Resolve. Renewal’.
This will mark Dr. Amarasuriya’s first official visit to India since assuming office as Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister.
The summit is also expected to be attended by Indian PM – Narendra Modi, former UK PM – Rishi Sunak, and former Australian PM – Tony Abbott.
In a video statement released ahead of the visit, PM Amarasuriya said: “This will be my first official visit to India as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. India and Sri Lanka, as you know, are bound together by history, culture and shared values. Our relationship is of great depth and importance, and I look forward to using this opportunity to strengthen our cooperation in every sphere, including trade, investment, education, development, and beyond.”
She added, “I hope to share Sri Lanka’s perspectives on international cooperation and economic resilience, and contribute to meaningful conversations on the pressing challenges of our region and the world… I am looking forward to participating in the NDTV World Summit, where I will have the opportunity to engage with global leaders and thinkers.”
