Liquor shop sealed for selling alcohol on Poya Day

An excise-licensed liquor outlet in the Ja-Ela area has been sealed after it was found selling alcohol on Il Poya Day (Nov. 05).

The discovery was made during a sudden raid conducted by officials of the Excise Department of Sri Lanka.

In a statement, the department said that further investigations are underway and that legal action will be taken against those responsible.

The Excise Department also added that it is closely monitoring such illegal activities, while the Excise Commissioner General has urged the public to share information regarding similar incidents.
