A red light from World Food Organization
A report issued by the World Food Organization (WFO) revealed that only 10% of Sri Lankan households have been confirmed to be food secure.
WFO has pointed out that Sri Lanka is in fifth place among the countries where prices increase rapidly as food security decreases. By the end of last September, food inflation in this country had exceeded 95%. WFO points out that even the household units where food safety is currently at a satisfactory level are facing a seriously dangerous situation due to this situation.
WFO has pointed out that at the end of 2009, when the civil war in this country ended, 88% of the household units had food security and points out that the food security that existed even during the war has completely collapsed and has now reached 10%.
