It is reported that all preparations are being made to hold a huge military show festival called ‘Colombo Tattoo 2023’ in August with the mediation of President Ranil Wickremesinghe though the people are suffering amid the economic crisis. This is proposed to be held in line with Britain’s Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
Arrangements have been made to organize this festival with music, dance troupes, military shows, weapon displays, fireworks, drums, and light displays. The Presidential Secretariat, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Army-Navy-Air Force, Police, Civil Defense Department, Youth Service Council, Ministry of Culture and Department of Archeology oversee the organization.
In addition, it is said that well-known private dance and music groups, aboriginal people of Sri Lanka and private hotels are to be involved here.
Shows with Sri Lankan military uniforms are to be held targeting foreign and local tourists and will be held for five days by selling tickets, and it is planned to accommodate 20,000 people at a time.
It is also stated that Colombo Galle Face Green, Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium at Diyagama, Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium and Ratmalana Airport are being considered for holding this festival.
