Gunaratne Wanninayake released on bail (Update)
Former Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara has been released on bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate – Asanga S. Bodaragama.
He was arrested earlier today when he appeared before CIABOC to give a statement in connection with an investigation over alleged irregularities in a scheme to send Sri Lankans to Israel for agricultural work during the previous government.
Subsequently, he was produced before court and ordered to be released on a cash bail of Rs. 100,000 and two sureties amounting to Rs. 04 million each.
The Colombo Chief Magistrate also ordered him not to intimidate witness and slapped him with a foreign travel ban.

Manusha arrested (Update)
Former Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), a short while ago.
He was taken into custody when he appeared before CIABOC to give a statement in connection with an investigation over alleged irregularities in a scheme to send Sri Lankans to Israel for agricultural work during the previous government.

Manusha appears before CIABOC
Former Minister – Manusha Nanayakkara appeared before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) a short while ago.
Reports indicate that he arrived to provide a statement as part of the ongoing inquiry.

CIABOC seeks to arrest Manusha
A team from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) reportedly conducted a search operation at the Narahenpita residence of former Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment – Manusha Nanayakkara last night (Oct. 14), with the intention of arresting him.
Earlier yesterday, Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama rejected the anticipatory bail application filed by Nanayakkara seeking protection from a possible arrest by the CIABOC.
Delivering the order in open court, the Chief Magistrate stated that there was no evidence to suggest that the CIABOC was conducting a malicious or biased investigation into the employment agreement between Sri Lanka and Israel.
He further noted that the ruling comprised 15 pages.
Nanayakkara’s counsel, Attorney-at-Law Asthika Devendra, informed the court that the former minister would appear before the CIABOC today (Oct. 15) to provide a statement.
Accordingly, Mr. Nanayakkara is also scheduled to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today.
