A proposal to enter an agreement with the Maldives’ government for legal cooperation in criminal matters, has received Cabinet approval.

The proposal, made by Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, was approved by the ministers at the weekly cabinet meeting held yesterday (22).

The statement by the Department of Government Information said that the proposal seeks to overcome legal hurdles encountered in joint operations between Sri Lanka and the Maldives as well as to improve bilateral relations.
