Chamari's innings ends T20 drought against India

Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu’s unbeaten 80 off 48 singlehandedly ensured Sri Lanka defeated India by seven wickets in the third and final Twenty20 International at Dambulla yesterday (27).

With this victory, Sri Lanka defeated India in a T20I at home for the first time and also ended a run of 12 successive T20I defeats to India.

India had won the two previous games so, yesterday's win prevented a whitewash win for the visitors.

India was restricted to 138/5 with the home team ending their innings as 141/3 with 18 balls to spare.

Chamari Athapaththu was named player of the match.
