The Narahenpita Police have launched an investigation into an incident where Colombo Municipal Councilor Sunanda Pathirana of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) had opened fire into the air.

It was reported that the councilor shot in the air during a dispute between two groups at Dabare Mawatha in Narahenpita.

A conflict that occurred at a nightclub in Bambalapitiya a few days ago had led to the dispute which took place on the day before yesterday (19).

The police also said a man who was seriously injured when he was attacked with a shovel by a person who claimed to be the councilor's driver has been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital for treatment.
