The Corporation has appointed these committees to look into the possibility of foreign companies selling fuel in Sri Lanka.

Accordingly, between 5 and 6 members have been appointed under five Deputy General Managers of the respective departments appointed in the finance, trade and marketing control departments.

These committee members have been meeting after 02.00 pm for a considerable number of days in the last month and they have been provided facilities for drinking tea during the discussions in several hotels.

They have spent almost Rs. One million on having tea and light meals at these hotels.

This 'Tea Bill' prepared for last month has now been forwarded to the Deputy General Manager (Finance) for approval.

'Aruna' newspaper reported that it tried to contact Petroleum Corporation's Deputy General Manager (Finance) Varuna Weerasuriya for further comments on this matter, but the attempt proved futile.
