ETCA back on stage

According to reports there has been a discussion regarding the resumption of the Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA).
This discussion had been held online last September 19, and main negotiators from Sri Lanka and India have participated.
Previously, 11 rounds of talks were held from time to time.
However, the Ranil + Maitri government worked hard to implement ETCA during the ‘good governance’ period, but had to be temporarily halted due to people’s opposition to it.
There was also an attempt to sign this agreement in December 2016. However, it did not materialize.
