An official announcement of the Central Bank reveals that the number of people who lost their jobs within a month has increased very seriously. The figures related to this have been presented in the official announcement titled Sri Lanka Purchasing Managers’ Index issued concerning the last month of April. The employment index, which was 45.2% last March, fell to 42.0% by the end of April. In the same official announcement, this situation has been introduced as “an accelerated descent”.
