Gota, driven out by the people, gets walloping privileges
It is revealed that it has been planned to provide a wide range of security and financial privileges with public funds to Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who was brought back to Sri Lanka after nearly two months of being driven out by the people.
In addition to the presidential pension, financial privileges of more than 400,000 rupees will be given monthly for the positions he held, including the post of Secretary of the Ministry of Defense. He will also get a large staff, a pool of vehicles, stationery and banquet expenses, among other privileges with public funds. This also includes the Government official house at No. 01, Malalasekara Mawatha, Colombo 07.
In addition, a contingent will be deployed under a top army officer for a constantly changing security force recommended by Defence Secretary Kamal Gunaratne. President Ranil Wickremesinghe has approved all these as the Security Forces Executive.
