Hansard states that Ranil Wickramasinghe was among those who set fire to Jaffna library – Anura Dissanayake
- The people can no longer live like this.
- The process of the rulers has been greatly weakened.
- There is a huge economic collapse in the country.
- The NPP is being built strongly. Rulers can no longer wield power in the old way. Therefore, they cannot hold elections. Elections are being withdrawn. Ranil wants to call us from other roads. We do not go on those roads. A presidential election should be called in August 2024. We are rallying to win the elections that must be held before that. The ruler is trying to stay in power by breaking the laws and breaking the constitution without facing the people. Apart from that, they act to incite racism and religious disharmony, just like the old habits. Racism and religious disharmony in our country do not arise from the people; it is politics. The Tamil United Liberation Front, which was formed in 1972, came to the 1977 elections asking those who wanted a separate country to vote for ‘the sun’. Poets like Kasi Anandan, who were on that stage, said that they would wear a red rose with the blood of the Sinhalese. When they lose their power, the traditional Tamil leaders sow racism. Second, the leaders in the South sowed Sinhalese racism. The 1981 Development Council elections were looted, ballot boxes were set on fire, and the Jaffna library was set on fire, creating a great disaster. J.R. Jayawardena was obsessed with power and acted not to have even a development council that was not under his command. According to S.D. Bandaranaike’s speech in Parliament at that time, as Hansard reports, Ranil Wickramasinghe was among those who set fire to the Jaffna Library. This is history. The sabotage of the Development Council election and the Black July of 1983 created the way for the a group of small armed youths to take away the democracy of those people and develop them into suicide movements. Among the traditional politicians who developed racism in the North and racism in the South, the Tamil leaders in the North could not control the armed movement that emerged. On the other hand, J.R. Jayawardene went to a pro-American government due to mistakes in understanding geopolitics. At that time, India had an alliance with the Soviet Union. The United States had prepared a Brahmaputra plan to divide India. This made India give much support to the small armed groups in the North against making Sri Lanka a colony of the United States. No one who is disabled here today is responsible for this disaster. We all in the North and South are victims of that disaster. Enough blood and tears have been shed due to the use of religious disharmony and racism to maintain and gain power. The Easter attack was carried out in a country that had such an experience. The general public has accepted that the Easter attack was carried out to gain political power. The zombies of racism and religiosity are building again. How did the money go to Saharan’s Islamic extremism and Sinhala extremism from the same account of the Ministry of Defense? Two extremist groups were nurtured for power. Even today, those zombies have started coming out gradually. The old map has begun to be unfolded again. The Pastor’s statement is not a coincidence. The news of the channels that take cobras in procession devoted much time to it. We should not allow any racism or religious extremism. We would firmly take that stand. The NPP is creating a state where our children’s generation will live in harmony and happiness. The foundation of every developed country in the world is the rejection of racism and religious extremism. There is reasonable doubt that the government creates some events in the North. The ruler cannot be without racism. We were small as a movement when J.R. Jayawardene swam in racism. When his nephew is indulging in racism, we are building the strongest political movement in Sri Lanka and carrying on the ideological struggle that will not allow racists to call the tune. Political leaders in India and Pakistan have been jailed for stealing. Not a single local councillor in Sri Lanka has gone to jail for stealing. In Sri Lanka, one law now applies to those with wealth and power, and one law applies to the poor. Therefore, a country where the law applies fairly to everyone will be created by the NPP. How did drugs spread to remote rural areas? The crooks in this drug business are pumping money into the government’s election campaigns. If the power goes from Ranil to Mahinda, elections will be held. If it goes from Ranil to Sajith, it will be held. The political cradle that has swung to either side has now been rocked. They never thought that thousands of members of retired Sri Lankan armed forces would gather in Kurunegala like this. However, they are flabbergasted because of such attendance. In the face of these forces, the enemy is making every possible conspiracy. The citizens of this country hope for a better country. That hope is mine and everyone’s hope. Tragedies like the tsunami were also used for fraud and corruption. All purchases of the war, including MiG fighters, had been turned into the mine of treasurer. The covid epidemic also made a money-making venture. The loss of oil and gas has also become a fortune for them. The Pearl Express ship caught fire and caused the biggest marine chemical disaster in the world. The likes of Ranil Wickramasingha fear that power will be transferred to a force that will change the political culture and turn every destruction into a gold mine. The Rajapaksa family is also afraid. The NPP is building a regime that will retake the people’s property from places it has been illegally hoarded by illegal means. Society is under the control of criminals. Different efforts are being made individually to get rid of it. But it is difficult to overcome them when we are divided. We say that to get out of this; a collective effort should be made. The Retired Tri-Forces Forum could bear a large part of that effort. Their experience, patience and training can be used to save this country and its people from the clutches of those criminals. All of us Sinhalese, Tamil, and Muslim nationalities, as well as those devotees of Buddhist, Christian, Islam and Hindu religions, have been caught in the grip of common criminals. They try again and again to trap us in the net of criminals. Therefore, we have to come together and come forward to make a collective effort to rid our country of these criminals. We call upon everyone to rally with us to carry out this task.”
