Yesterday night, the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, Sri Lanka Freedom Party, the independent MPs led by Anura Yapa and the Tamil National Alliance pledged to back Dullas Alahapperuma at the vote.

Earlier, the 10 parties led by Wimal Weerawansa also said they will back Alahapperuma.

However, MP Harin Fernando says that some members of these parties will back Ranil Wickremesinghe as well.

General Secretary of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya - Ranjith Maddumabandara has said that they will back MP Alahapperuma as previously announced.

In a latest development, TMTK MP - C.V. Wigneswaran has said he will back Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The vote to select the next President will be held at 10.00am today (20).
