
The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today (Nov. 04) has ordered the release on bail of 04 former officials of the Sri Lanka Fisheries Corporation, pending further investigations.
The ex-officials of the Fisheries Corporation that were arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) earlier today (Nov. 04) were :
- Chairman of the Sri Lanka Fisheries Corporation – Lalith Daulagala
- Former Managing Director – Chandana Krishantha
- Supplies Manager – Vijith Pushpakumara
- Operations Manager (Acting Finance Manager) – Anura Chandrasena Bandara
The arrests relate to the 2020 purchase of a high-capacity fish vacuum-packing machine for the Fisheries Corporation, with a capacity to pack 2,000 kg of fish per hour.
According to the CIABOC, the machine had been procured without necessity and outside proper procedures, causing a financial loss of Rs. 5.85 million to the state.
