Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Colombo District MP - Jagath Kumara Sumitraarachichi had written to President Ranil Wickramasinghe, requesting relief for electricity bills of religious places and low-income people.

In his letter, he has also requested the President to provide provisions to the Paddy Marketing Board to ensure that the farmers' paddy harvest is purchased at a guaranteed price.

Noting that the protests by the Maha Sangha over the electricity bills will not bode well, he has pointed out that this could also lead to another round of public protests.
