Medicinal drug stock found abandoned at Nadukkuda Beach
A stock of medicinal drugs suspected to have washed ashore of Nadukkuda Beach, Mannar has been found by the Sri Lanka Navy.
The Navy said the stock of medicinal drugs was found during a patrol conducted on July 20.
The stock of drugs packed in polythene bags has been manufactured in a foreign country.
The gross market value of the drug stock is believed to be over Rs. 4.5 million, and the drug stock has been taken into the Naval custody pending further legal actions.
It is believed that the smugglers may have tried to bring the stock to Sri Lanka illegally by sea and abandoned the stock mid-sea due to the search operations conducted by the Navy.
