No obstacles for peaceful protests: IGP


Inspector General of Police (IGP) C.D. Wickramaratne said today that there will be no obstacle for peaceful protests.

Issuing a special statement, the IGP said Sri Lanka Police always respects the rights of speech and expression guaranteed by the Constitution, as well as the freedom of peaceful assembly.

However, he requested the public to be very responsible and refrain from damaging government and private property and obstructing the legitimately employed government and private employees while exercising their fundamental rights.
