Plans prepared to sell Sri Lankan
The government plan to sell SriLankan Airlines and several other government institutions is being implemented, starting with selling SriLankan Catering Company, which is currently making profits.
As the first step, government institutions are being handed over to local or foreign private companies one by one as a solution to the country’s dollar crisis under the name of restructuring, and currently, the government is looking for ways to restructure Sri Lankan Airlines.
The Cabinet has decided to entrust the “State-Owned Enterprises Restructuring Unit” established under the Ministry of Finance, Economic, Stabilization and National Policy to study the company’s method of restructuring and make recommendations to the Cabinet.
It is stated in the decision of the relevant cabinet that it has been recognized that the restructuring measures are appropriate by handing over a significant amount of shares of SriLankan Airlines and the management of the company to the investors selected through a transparent procurement process.
