Preparations to renovate oil tanks in Polonnaruwa!
The Minister of Transport, Highways and Mass Media Dr. Bandula Gunawardena said that all the oil tanks belonging to the Petroleum Corporation, located on the lands belonging to the Sri Lanka Railway Department adjacent to the Polonnaruwa and Welikanda railway station which are currently unused and covered in weeds, will be renovated and made use of for storing petroleum.
The minister said this during his recent inspection tour to Polonnaruwa and Welikanda railway stations.
Dr. Gunawardena further said that there are 3 tanks with a capacity of 100,000 liters of oil each located next to the Polonnaruwa railway station and 5 tanks with a capacity of 54,000 liters of oil each located next to the Welikanda railway station.
He said that the cost of transporting fuel by train is minimal and he said that he will discuss how to modernize this tank system in the coming week with the Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera.
