Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) - Janaka Rathnayake says the commission has declined to approve a request by Ceylon Electricity Board for longer power cuts starting from Thursday.

PUCSL declined to approve CEB request for longer power cuts (2 hours & 20 minutes ) starting from tomorrow (22) as CEB has not justified extension of power cut with proper reasons. Hence approval is given only to continue prevailing schedule of 1 hr and 20 mts power cut, Ratnayake has said.
