We appreciate the guidance given by the Ramazan festival to bring us, Sri Lankan Nation, together! Ramadan is celebrated on April 22nd to mark the end of the month-long fast Islamic devotees observe. We congratulate the Sri Lankan Islamic devotees who are celebrating the event.
Many people may not be able to celebrate it with the usual festivity at a time when the economic crisis in Sri Lanka has affected people’s lives. However, despite the difficulties, the situation will not prevent Islamic devotees from celebrating in the meaning of Ramadan. The meaning of Ramadhan is to bear the hardships of daily life patiently and to use the wealth saved in fasting for a month to help our fellow people. It is crucial to include humanity and austerity, philanthropy, etc., qualities that are being alienated from people by the current evil capitalist society.
Today we, as a people, are experiencing the devastation that the country and the people have been brought to by the corrupt and greedy politics of seventy-five years. We have seen the evil trend of dividing people, communities and people for the sake of narrow political interests and the blood that has been shed on the earth for it.
We appreciate the guidance the Ramadan festival gave, based on brotherhood to all people, regardless of nationality, to stand together as a whole society and as a Sri Lankan nation. However, it is crucial to understand the true nature of greedy and corrupt governments. Corrupt rulers who fear public opinion are in this situation.
At a particular time when the country and the people are ready to take a new path, we hope that the Ramadan festival will send an important message to the Sri Lankan Muslims to join hands as one Sri Lankan people in the name of brotherhood..
