Ranil-Maithri decides to meet in two weeks!
Former President Maithripala Sirisena says that President Ranil Wickremesinghe said that he hopes to meet the Sri Lanka Freedom Party team again within the next fortnight to discuss the proposal for an all-party government.
Sirisena said this while speaking to the media after the discussion held yesterday (28) with President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Ministry of Finance regarding the formation of an all-party government.
The former president also said that he informed Wickremesinghe that his group will continue to stand for the proposal to form an all-party government.
"The current president was informed about the proposal for an all-party government. The proposal also includes the establishment of a national assembly, the 19th amendment, etc. We also suggested to the President to make decisions to solve the economic, political and social crisis, oil and gas crisis in the country, as well as to prepare a spiritual program in consultation with the Maha Sangha and other religious leaders in order to calm the restlessness and impulsiveness of the people,” he added.
"Although there is hope it is hard to say for sure if a national government would be formed. It is the president and the government that has the responsibility of inviting all parties to join in and forming a national government."
Party Secretary General, Dayasiri Jayasekara, National Organizer Duminda Dissanayake, Treasurer Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Members of Parliament Ranjith Siambalapitiya and Jagath Pushpakumara were also present on this occasion.
