It is reported that a conflict has surfaced in the Sri Lanka Podujana Party (SLPP) regarding the move by the Eighth President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who attended the Queen’s funeral, to stop the weekly Cabinet meeting and not delegate that responsibility to someone else.
Given this situation, the ruling party’s group meeting has been held under Dinesh Gunawardena’s leadership, and the party has proposed that the weekly cabinet meeting should be held under the leadership of Dinesh Gunawardena during the upcoming foreign trips of Ranil Wickramasinghe.
A parliamentary session was also held last week, for which the work of the ministries was supposed to be discussed. However, it was also missed by not holding the cabinet meeting. Ranil Wickramasinghe has been severely criticized by the SLPP party for this too.
