India is continuously moving forward in terms of digital transactions and is creating new records. In the whole world, maximum payments through UPI are done in India only. India has now created a new record. India has registered a record growth in one year with UPI and cards. In this case, Bengaluru is on top in the list of all the cities in the country, which have done the most digital payments.
Bengaluru, also known as the Silicon Valley, tops the list of Indian cities in terms of digital transactions in the country. France’s Payment and Transactional Services Company has said this in its report.
The Hindu has published citing Worldline report that Bengaluru recorded 29 crore digital transactions worth 6500 crores in 2022. Delhi is on the second place in this list. Delhiites did 1.96 crore digital transactions worth Rs 5000 crore followed by Mumbai with 1.87 crore transactions worth Rs 4950 crore.
According to the report, at number four is Pune with 1.5 crore digital transactions worth Rs 3,280 crore and Chennai with 1.43 crore transactions worth Rs 3,550 crore.
In the report titled ‘India Digital Payments Annual Report’, payment modes such as UPI, debit and credit cards, prepaid payment instruments, mobiles and prepaid cards processed 87.92 billion transactions worth Rs 149.5 trillion.
As per the report, over 74.05 billion in volume and over 126 trillion in value were transacted through UPI. Its transaction volume and value have almost doubled from the previous year as it has registered a growth of 91 percent in volume and over 76 percent in value in the year 2022 as compared to the year 2021.
In terms of physical touch points, the top 10 states and union territories have been paid the most during 2022. It consists of Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Telangana, Gujarat, West Bengal and Punjab. While the top 10 cities are Bengaluru, New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Coimbatore.
