Request made to curb online gaming

A request has been made to the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) calling to safeguard children from the menace of online gaming.

In a letter, a national organisation called 'Lakmawa Diyaniyo' has called on the TRCSL to immediately intervene.

National Organiser of the collective, Priyanga Kothelawala says that the letter was handed over today (14).

We urge authorities to take measures against this menace as it is our future generation that is being wasted away thus, she added.

Recently, a 16-year old from Raigama, Bandaragama, who had been addicted to online gaming, had committed suicide.
