SL government is gradually destroying democracy – American Ambassador

The American Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Julie Chung states that the Sri Lankan government is gradually destroying democracy.
She states this in a note on her official Twitter account.
She has further stated that Sri Lanka’s democracy and the right to express opinions are gradually being destroyed by using strict laws such as the Prevention of Terrorism Act that does not comply with international human rights standards.
She also asks the Sri Lankan government to confirm the right of the people to express their views.
