SL Red Cross explains why they vacated GGG protest site

The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society has clarified as to why they had vacated their first aid camp at the Gota Go Gama protest site.

The Red Cross had vacated the site on July 21, hours before the armed forces launched a pre-dawn crackdown on the protestors.

Issuing a statement, Sri Lanka Red Cross Society says that they had done so to adhere to a court order issued by the Colombo Magistrate's court.

The court had earlier issued an order prohibiting gathering around a 50-meter radius from the Bandaranaike Statue at the protest site.
