SLFP & President to discuss all-party govt.


Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party former President Maithripala Sirisena says discussions will be held with President Ranil Wickremesinghe today pertaining to an all-party government.

The discussion got underway at the Ministry of Finance at noon.

Speaking at a media briefing prior to the discussion, the former President said SLFP proposals pertaining to forming an all-party government will be discussed once again.

Former President Sirisena said during talks in this regard with former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, charges and criticism was levelled that the SLFP was aligning with the then government.

He noted that today too similar charges will be levelled at the SLFP.

However, the former President said the government in power is not the issue at hand, adding that as a policy the SLFP decided that similar to foreign countries, amidst an economic crisis an all-party government is a means of moving forward.
