UNICEF has pointed out that the people are facing a severe humanitarian crisis due to this country’s economic and political crisis.
Its Sri Lankan representative, Christian Skoog, has revealed this in a discussion with Australia’s ABC television. Professor Sirimal Abeyratne of the University of Colombo quoted the statement of the UNICEF representative in Sri Lanka in a discussion given to the Lankadeepa newspaper.
‘Lankadeepa’ newspaper on the 25th reported that information. It states, “Two weeks ago, Sri Lanka’s UNICEF representative, Christian Skoog, made a statement to the Australian ABC television and said that he has worked in countries such as South Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, etc. and that there has not been such a crisis in other countries.”
