Sri Lanka protesters vow to occupy palace until leaders keep their word and resign
Protester leaders in Sri Lanka have vowed to occupy the residences of the nation’s President and Prime Minister until both men keep their word and leave office.
Mr Rajapaksa and Mr Wickremesinghe agreed to resign after thousands of people stormed government buildings in Colombo on the weekend and the Prime Minister’s residence was set on fire.
The nation is facing a deepening economic crisis, which has resulted in a shortage of essentials like fuel, cooking gas and medicines.
