Sri Lanka's Trotskyist icon Wije Dias bids farewell!
The Chairman of the Socialist Equality Party, Wije Dias , who is considered a Trotskyite icon in the left-wing politics of Sri Lanka, has passed away.
He dedicated his life to that political ideology and was 80-years-old at the time of his demise.
He was a founding member of the Revolutionary Communist Party established in 1968 and was a member of the International Editorial Board of the World Socialist Web Site.
He was appointed as the chairman of the Socialist Equality Party in the General Conference of the party held last May.
Until then, he worked as the General Secretary of that party.
His remains will lie at a funeral parlour in Borella tomorrow (30th) until 2.30 pm and the cremation will take place at the Borella Public Cemetery at 5 pm tomorrow.
