Issuing train tickets could be an issue soon, station masters say.

As the number of train passengers had greatly increased of late, the supply of tickets at many stations is running low and the Sri Lanka Railways will have to foot a hefty sum in order to import paper to print tickets, they say.

They have pointed out that a re-usable ticketing system could resolve this issue at least to a certain extent.

Noting that ticket printing through the State Printer has already been stopped and  machines have already been shifted to the printing office at SL Railways headquarters, the station masters say that the process is also hampered due to the lack of sufficient trained employees for the printing as well as for office work.
