A group of 40 officials from the Elections Commission left for India yesterday (23) to undergo election-related training, according to the Chairman of the Elections Commission, R.M.A.L. Ratnayake.
It is stated that this week-long training programme, conducted with the full support of the Indian Election Commission and the Government of India, will be attended by 40 officials serving in the Election Commission and district offices.
Reports further indicate that the training will be held at an educational and training institute in India.
Notably, this is the first time in history that India has provided such training to officials of Sri Lanka’s Elections Commission.
