Victorious Nethmi Ahimsa returns to SL!
Nethmi Ahimsa, who won a medal for Sri Lanka in wrestling for the first time in history at the 22nd Commonwealth Games, arrived in the island early today (08).
At the Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, England, 18-year-old Nethmi Ahimsa won a bronze medal in wrestling under the 57 kg weight category, posing a strong challenge to her Australian opponent.
She arrived at Katunayake Airport at 03.50 this morning on Etihad Airways flight EY-264 from Abu Dhabi.
Her father, mother, sister, family relatives and friends, the Director General of the Sports Ministry, Amal Edirisuriya, a group of high-ranking officials from the Ministry and the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Wrestling Federation were present at the airport to welcome her.
