Prevailing showery conditions expected to continue due to low-level atmospheric disturbance (May 07)
May 07, Colombo (LNW): Due to the low-level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, the prevailing showery condition over the island is expected to continue during the next few days, the Department of Meteorology said today (07).
Showers or thundershowers will occur at most places of the island after 1.00 pm.
Showers are likely in the Western, North-western and Northern provinces and in Trincomalee, Galle and Matara districts during the morning too.
Fairly heavy falls above 75 mm are likely at some places in Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, Southern and North-central provinces.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces during the early hours of the morning.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Marine Weather:
Condition of Rain: Showers or thundershowers will occur in the sea areas around the island.
Winds: Winds will be South-westerly and wind speed will be (25-35) kmph.
State of Sea: The sea areas around the island can be Slight to moderate.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
