Two Chinese Suspects to Face Identification Parade in Colombo Port City Murder Case
July 27, Colombo (LNW): Two Chinese nationals arrested in connection with the alleged abduction and murder of a fellow Chinese citizen in Colombo Port City are due to appear in an identification parade today (27), as investigations into the high-profile case continue.
The suspects, who remain in remand custody, are also scheduled to be produced before the relevant court during today’s proceedings.
According to Sri Lanka Police, investigations have established that both suspects are linked to an organised group allegedly involved in cybercrime activities.
Police said the incident unfolded on the night of 22 July, when three Chinese nationals were fishing from a bridge in Colombo Port City. During the incident, a group of other Chinese nationals is alleged to have arrived in a van, assaulted the three men, restrained them by tying their hands and legs, and forcibly abducted one of them before fleeing the scene.
The abducted man was later found dead in the Karadana area of Eheliyagoda. A post-mortem examination determined that he died from severe internal injuries caused by multiple stab wounds.
The victim has been identified as Hao Song. Investigators have also uncovered information indicating that he, too, was allegedly involved in cybercrime-related activities, a line of inquiry that police are continuing to examine as part of the broader investigation.
Police said they intend to obtain a court order to facilitate the repatriation of Hao Song’s body to China through the Chinese Embassy once the required legal formalities have been completed.
Authorities say investigations are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killing, identify any additional suspects who may have been involved and determine the motive behind the crime.
