Veteran Sri Lankan singer and actor Priyankara Perera has passed away at the age of 64.
Family members said Perera died last night (September 1) while receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital. He had been battling an illness for some time.
The son of renowned singer Milton Perera, Priyankara Perera was a well-known figure in Sri Lanka’s music and entertainment industry, having built a career as both a singer and actor.
He gained widespread popularity through a number of memorable songs, including Supun Sandak, Sandun Gase Saman Welak, Sikuruliya and Agadha Sagare.
His death marks the loss of a familiar voice and figure in Sri Lanka’s popular music scene.
