The wife of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organiser Namal Rajapaksa, Limini Weerasinghe Rajapaksa, is expected to take the stage at a major party rally scheduled to be held in Anuradhapura on September 12, according to internal sources.
The SLPP is said to have made the decision following Namal Rajapaksa’s arrest by the Bribery Commission yesterday (4) and his subsequent remand until September 18 after being produced before court.
Former President and SLPP leader Mahinda Rajapaksa is also expected to attend the Anuradhapura rally. However, sources said he has decided not to take the main stage to address the crowd, and instead participate from among the supporters in front of the stage or from another platform.
Meanwhile, Limini Weerasinghe Rajapaksa is reportedly expected to take the party’s main stage and address the public for the first time.
It has also reportedly been circulating within political circles that a prominent astrologer who recently examined Limini Rajapaksa’s horoscope had described it as being as powerful as those of the world’s first female Prime Minister, Sirimavo Ratwatte Dias Bandaranaike, and former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, based on the planetary positions in her birth chart.
