800 university professors have left the country – nearly 1000 have gone abroad

More than 800 university professors have left the country this year, and another 1,000 are on leave abroad, says Senior Lecturer Charudatta Ilangasinghe, media spokesperson of the Federation of University Professors’ Association.
He also said that this situation has severely affected university studies.
Senior Lecturer Charudatta Ilangasinghe also said that in the first period of this year, around 6,200 university lecturers have worked in the Sri Lankan university system, and the recruitment of new lecturers for universities has also stopped.
