71-year-old Akila Thirunayake of Mullaitivu adorns Sri Lanka with gold

Akila Thirunayake, a 71-year-old retired prison officer of Mulliyavalai village in Mullaitivu, has taken Sri Lanka to the top by winning two gold medals and a bronze medal at the Masters Athletics Championships held in the Philippines.
Akila Thirunayaki, who represented Sri Lanka in this tournament, has won two gold medals in 1500 and 5000 meters and a bronze medal in 800 meters.
She has also secured the fourth position in the 400-meter event.
Akila’s win is a victory for the entire country among women who shine in the world through sports. Her achievement has also gone down in history as a victory that creates news worldwide.
