NPP well received in the North
The Vavuniya and Kilinochchi District Conferences of the National People’s Power were held yesterday (16) and the people were invited to unite to form a government to bring all the Sinhalese, Tamil and Muslim people under one umbrella.
The event was presided over by the NPP leader, Anura Dissanayake, its national executive member D. N. P. K. Palihena, Vavuniya district committee member Panchalingam Ramasamy, and several other activists.
NPP Leader Anura Dissanayake, in his speeches, said, “This year is a very crucial year. This year can be made a year of forming a new government and bringing a new rule. Vavuniya is a very important district. A district where Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim people live in harmony. The conference we are holding is a very important conference. The presidential election should be held this year. We have an opportunity to form a new government. We have come to invite you to be the main participants in the new government that will be formed. We must somehow or other do it.
why is that? These rulers ruled this country for a long time. The people of the country also formed governments with great hopes. Governments were overthrown. Leaders were brought. Leaders were changed. What has happened to the country and the people after that long time? Have they been able to solve people’s problems? Their problems have been solved. Will they take power again and build the country? What was not possible for so long is no longer possible. They destroyed our country and people. We know that they will not build our country. Let’s get rid of those old, failed, and destructive rulers and form a people’s government. We will form a government that represents the Sinhalese people in the south, the Tamil people in the north, the people living on the plantation, and the people in the east. Therefore, we invite the Tamil people to vote for us. We would not say we would give a federal state or thirteen plus. They are mere deals to get votes. Our politics is not a transaction or a deal. It is a consensus among the people. We need such a compromise. What kind of compromise? The government we are building is a government that ensures the safety of all people. No citizen of this country should face security threats based on the religion they believe in or the language they speak. Security should be ensured for the Sinhalese people in the north as well as the Tamil people in the south. No matter where we live, no matter what language we speak, no matter what religion we follow, no matter what culture are brought up with, everyone should feel he or she is a dignified citizen of Sri Lanka. That’s how we’d able to build the Sri Lankan Nation.”
