Rs. 1000 million lost to government – action against Cabral and others

The Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission has filed a case before the Colombo High Court against former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabral and others for causing the government to lose 100 crore rupees through the purchase of 1,843.3 million rupees in treasury bills.
It is also reported that the relevant facts were discovered after the Investigation Commission investigated a complaint regarding the purchase of treasury bills issued by the government of Greece in 2012, during the financial crisis in Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, after completing the investigations of the Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission, the Commission has filed this case before the Colombo High Court against Ajith Nivard Cabral, Dharmasena Dheerasinghe, Wasantha Ananda Silva, Chandrisiri Jayasinghe, Pandita Siriwardena and Karunaratne.
