New Year message of the NPP
Let us make this New Year a new energy to start the journey for a new national renaissance!
The New Year festival, a significant cultural celebration for the Sri Lankan Sinhalese and Tamil people, is set to dawn on April 13 this year. We extend our heartfelt greetings to all, as we come together to mark this auspicious occasion. This traditional belief that the Sun’s transition from Pisces to Aries completes a cycle symbolizes our shared heritage and unity.
The New Year festival is not merely a time for the renewal or resumption of material aspects of life. It is a social phenomenon that brings about positive change. It offers us the opportunity to let go of the unnecessary baggage we’ve carried for too long and infuse our lives with a fresh perspective. This freshness also includes the motivation to reflect on our journey thus far and envision a brighter future.
In the current economic crisis, even thinking about celebrating the New Year according to their expectations can be a painful experience for many people. It has happened because the New Year has completed a cycle. However, the current and existing regimes have kept the Sri Lankan society in the same vicious cycle of disappointing the people’s expectations for 76 years. The coming New Year has opened up the opportunity to choose a people’s government that will get the people out of the vicious and corrupt socio-economic political cycle and lift the bankrupt country to a developed and just society. The wishes made in the New Year will be fulfilled only in such a situation.
The people of all nationalities from north, south, west and east align themselves with the need for a people’s administration by removing the differences until that good omen arrives. We are confident that this New Year will be a new energy to start the historic journey for a new national renaissance that will achieve real victories for the country and the people.
