Nimal Siripala is the Acting President of SLFP – Chandrika faction

Chandrika faction of the SLFP has issued a media statement stating that the appointment of Judicial Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms Minister Wijayadasa Rajapaksa as the Acting President of the party is illegal and Nimal Siripala de Silva is the official Acting President of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
The announcement issued by the National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Member of Parliament Duminda Dissanayake, further states that the appointment made on the 20th at a meeting called as a political committee meeting is illegal and the appointment made at the so-called meeting is invalid. He states that Minister Nimal Siripalada Silva was previously appointed as Acting Chairman and he has the authority to act on behalf of the party.
