Open warrant for gold smuggling Ali Sabri
Puttalam District Member of Parliament Ali Sabri Rahim, who was recently arrested by customs officials while smuggling gold to Sri Lanka, has been ordered to be arrested immediately. Puttalam Additional District Judge and Magistrate Iona. Wimalaratne Kalpitiya has issued open warrants at the Tourism Magistrate Court.
The Magistrate gave this order when a non-governmental organization based in Kuruchnampitiya, Kalpitiya Police Force, took up a case in the Puttalam Magistrate’s Court, holding the Member of Parliament accountable.
Regarding the case, the accused MP, Ali Sabri Rahim and his lawyer did not appear in the court. Open warrants have been issued because they did not appear before the court when the case was called a second time, highlighting the situation’s urgency.
The Kalpitiya Police have charged the respondent with criminal entry into a building belonging to a non-governmental organization and destruction of property.
It was also reported that this MP, Ali Sabri Rahim, threatened the government officials who participated in the investigations based on an incident of government land acquisition.
