It is reported that a number of foreign organizations have paid attention to the ongoing moves taken against the judiciary by using parliamentary privileges as well as presidential immunity.
It is reported that Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and related organizations, are preparing to officially present the matter to the government in the next few days. Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Bar Association, as well as several other legal associations, have focused their attention on the arbitrary activities of the government.
President’s Counsel Susantha De Alwis has pointed out that if the President or the Cabinet has any problem with the decision given by the court regarding Deshbandu Tennakoon, the Attorney General can submit a motion to the Supreme Court and resolve it.
It was revealed in a discussion with lawyer Susanta de Alvis on the YouTube channel “Saroj’s Message”. He has further pointed out that in getting a review through a motion, the government can present to the court through the lawyers the facts that the government says on the propaganda platforms.
Besides, it was further revealed that the Chief Justice cannot intervene in a decision given by a three-judge bench. President’s Counsel Susantha de Alwis further questions whether Ranil Wickramasinghe, a lawyer, does not even know that.
